I noticed that the battery gauge on the side of the laptop is broken, could this be an issue? The same issues occur when its plugged in or here are the added pictures requested. When in macOS, the battery icon is charging however says “Battery not charging“. Battery isn’t charging nor won’t the laptop use battery power. In Summary: Battery is recognised by macOS. When I unplug the charger things such as the hard drive and screen will stay on but macOS shuts down and I’m left with a black screen. I’m a frequent Windows user and I know how to troubleshoot almost every issue, however, I’m new to troubleshooting on macOS and don’t know where to go from here. ![]() (I read that erasing and re-installing macOS may work, its trial and error at this point). I’m currently re-installing macOS High Sierra on a brand new erased SSD which again is giving me a headache. I’ve done everything (to my knowledge), possible. I’ve had it functioning in recovery (without being connected to charger), and successfully booted into Windows using battery power however neither operating system’s will give a read-out of charge. Now that my battery is recognised, my other issue is that macOS won’t charge it, gather any battery information, or use it when disconnected from a power source. Check to see if the battery will charge now and if the macbook will recognize the battery.”.Install the battery and try to turn on the macbook.Again shut off the computer and remove the charger.Press the power button one more time to restart the macbook. The sleep LED will go crazy and you might hear a loud tone coming from the speakers. While the macbook is OFF press and hold Command+Option+Left Shift+ Power Button for 5 seconds.Shut off the macbook when you get to the login screen or the desktop. ![]() (must be done before you see the white screen at start up) Release the keys when you hear the apple chime sound 3 or 4 times.
